Under the Gaze of Joris Vegter, Bees Reveal their Fragile and Fascinating Beauty
Guerlain has teamed up with Joris Vegter inorder to reveal the beauty of the bees. Thephotographer seeks out these insects bypeering into their favourite flowers, revealingtheir remarkable beauty through the use ofa macro lens and flash diffuser to create thegentlest lighting possible. He prefers workingat dawn or dusk, when nature seems to movein slow motion, or during the day when the beesare at their busiest. It is during these times thatthe photographer can capture these momentsof pure magic.
“My greatest wish is to raise awarenessaround the importance of these infinitelytiny creatures that populate our gardens, all while revealing their beauty.”
Valiant Sentinels in Danger (Bees Pollinate the World)
Bees have already valiantly endured through the eras (having emerged millions of years ago), but it is vital that they continue along their extraordinary journey to ensure our planet’s food security and survival. We must listen to them buzz, watch them forage and, above all, understand their crucial role in pollinating plants. 35%1of global food production (in fruit, vegetables and grains) depends on pollinators, particularly bees.
For over ten years, Guerlain has been committed to protecting these precious, end angered pollinators through its “Guerlain ForBees Conservation Programme”, which brings together more than fifteen partners and initiatives across the globe.
