From November 7th to January 2nd, 2025
Loro Piana embraces the enchantment of the holiday season at Harrods with the Workshop of Wonders, a full collaborative takeover of the famed Brompton Road façade, 36 windows, two pop-ups, a pop-in, and various animations. A magical journey into the Maison's unique world of fibres, fabrics, icons, and symbols, the impressive installation is a joyful, surprising, and unique celebration of its 100 years of history and heritage.
The mesmerizing façade tells the story of a fibre, as light as a cloud, transported in bales, floating through incredible mechanics, transforming into cloth, and ultimately creating an enchanting 17-metre holiday tree decorated with swathes of fabric and festive ornaments. The 36 Harrods windows, the two pop-ups, and the various animations inside all recount the exceptional story of Loro Piana. Each window unveils an excellence, telling the tales of the fibres, communities, and beautiful landscapes that make up the Maison’s masterful chain of hands. Storytelling a fascinating journey through impressive, faraway lands inhabited by the sweet animals that produce the finest, rarest materials in the world, makes its way to the factory in Quarona in Italy where these materials are transformed into the most precious gifts one could ever dream of.
The Workshop of Wonders concept itself is a testament of the Maison’s savoir-faire with incredible detailing and materials, fusing artistry and virtuosity. Loro Piana’s incredible history, heritage, and savoir-faire is recounted from a captivating angle – a story of unparalleled mastery and excellence, from the raw material to the finished product. The Workshop of Wonders brings to life anode to Loro Piana’s unique work shops, tools, and master artisans, which together create the unique personality of the Maison. A showcase of expertise, dedication, passion, and innovation that, along with the hand of nature, transforms dreams into reality.
True to its name, the Workshop of Wonders is created with elaborate moving sets that combine the idea of a marionette theatre with its exposed behind-the-scenes mechanisms and the hand-made wholesomeness typical of artisanal workshops. Besides the unique chain of hands of artisans, the workshop brings to life the idea that nature is also a workshop of beauty, uniqueness, and perfection.
Permeated by a refined 1920s perspective, evocative of the Maison’s origins, the overall time-worn feel is enhanced by woody textures finished with warm, hazy tones and glints of matte gold. The dreamy scenes are populated by hand-painted puppets and framed by hand-knitted fluffy clouds, fully reflecting Loro Piana’s prowess and Italian exclusive craftsmanship.
Through the Loro Piana lens, Workshops of Wonders unveils a community of Masters of Fibers and magical places around the world, each known for making the best and rarest holiday gifts. This insightful and delightful celebration will transport visitors on a poetic journey across latitudes and longitudes to discover where it all starts, where it goes, and where it ends.
Blurring the line between reality and fantasy, the Workshop of Wonders further underlines Loro Piana’s long-standing ties with Harrods, with a partnership that brings joy and merriment to both the little ones and adults.
Running from November 7th to January 2nd, 2025, Workshop of Wonders is a significant part of a broader global celebration marking the 100-year milestone of Loro Piana, founded in 1924 by Pietro Loro Piana.
Two new boutiques open in Harrods during the period: one dedicated to the Kids Collection and one to Loro Piana Interiors. Exclusive products celebrating the Maison's heritage and the festive season will also be revealed at Harrods.
Façade and Windows
A feel-good holiday cheer spreads across the awe-inspiring façade on Brompton Road and all 36 of Harrods’ windows, will flow into the elegant interiors of two pop-up shops filled with dedicated collections of RTW, accessories, children’s, home, and holiday items—all wrapped in festive dreaminess.
The captivating façade is a hypnotic work of art that recounts the creative process with magic fairy tale charm, lighting up in the dark to enhance the festive mood. The display narrates the story of a fibre, as light as a cloud, being transported in bales on a conveyor belt and transformed into cloth through an incredible mechanism, ultimately creating a 17-metre holiday tree decorated with swathes of fabric and unique ornaments.
The windows weave incredible stories of wonder through the locations and communities of Loro Piana’s Masters of Fibers. From Mongolia to Australia and the Andes and beyond, with one ultimate destination, Italy, where the world’s finest fibres and raw materials are masterfully transformed into ultimate objects of desire. To give or unwrap: for the holidays and beyond.
From Brompton Road to around the world, the windows tell the stories of Vicuña, Baby Cashmere, The Gift of Kings®, Pecora Nera ®, the historical Archivio, the Loro Piana coat of arms, the signature bags and leather goods, Icons such as the Spagna jacket, fibres, and the Su Misura service—all deeply interlaced with Loro Piana’s centenary.
In the main window, a rotating globe sits atop a miniature version of Loro Piana’s factory in Quarona, Italy, highlighting the locations of the Masters of Fibers around the world and tracking the journey to those lands. The iconic Harrods Green Man sits on the clouds above the globe, a symbol of the long-standing ties between the two brands
Be enthralled by the flying baby goats hopping across on fluffy clouds of cashmere against a starry sky as they traverse the world from Mongolia on their journey to Italy. Admire a huge spinning sun as it casts a golden glow of warmth on the celestial story of the Vicuña.
The windows dedicated to The Gifts of Kings® narrate the remarkable journey around the world to find the best, greenest pastures for the Merino sheep. In the late 18thcentury, Captain James Cook landed in New Zealandand Australia, introducing Merino sheep to this remote part of the world for the first time. Here, they thrived in ideal conditions, lovingly tended to by generations of local breeders. To honour this commitment, the finest fibre produced each year is awarded the Loro Piana Record Bale Award.
The Pecora Nera® story is about the vision and prowess of a female farmernamed Fiona Gardnerin New Zealand who focused her flock on dark-colouredsheep. Their natural undyed fibres are transformed into exceptional garments with the softest touch in rich earth tones.
And still, watch a magical loom inside the historical archive, spinning new yarns picked up and shelved by flying books or master tailor puppets fit the Su Misura evening looks on mannequins in a couture setting that nods to the 1920s and 1940s. In decorated niches, small miniature workshops and clouds host the smallest leather goods and Extra Pocket bags.

The Newborn pop-in boutique
The temporary Newborn pop-in unfurls Loro Piana’s vision for the little ones in a soft-toned fantasy world filled with softness and cosiness. In an imaginary dreamland filled with woolly sheep and fluffy clouds against teal panels and oak furniture, the expanded offering for newborns leverages the collaboration with Inglesina. It comprises cocooning warm suits, puffers, tailored coats, rompers, beanies, and bibs in the finest cotton, linen, and cashmere.
A shared passion for excellence and superior quality spurred the first-ever collaboration between Loro Piana and Inglesina, an Italian company that has specialised in children’s products and well-being since 1963. The tie-up between the two storied Italian houses resulted in a co-designed stroller-bassinet ensemble that combines Inglesina’s dedication to superior baby comfort with Loro Piana’s elegant natural fibres, distinguished by exceptional tactility. Combining form and function, the stroller is crafted from water-repellent linen and cotton canvas adorned with the classic Suitcase Stripe motif in signature kummel and orange. The heritage-inspired pattern draws from the suitcases formerly used by Loro Piana managers on their travels. The exclusive removable Cashfur Winter kit provides a luxurious tactile delight that includes a mat for the baby and hand warmers for the parents, spun using a signature blend of cashmere with a touch of silk, ensuring warmth and softness during the colder months.
