Between November 5 and 23 LOEWE will open a leather goods pop-up store in Place Vendôme. Located on the ground floor of Doha’s prestigious shopping mall in Lusail, the 45 sqm space will offer a curated selection of bags, and accessories, from LOEWE’s leather goods offering, including exotic skins and exquisite beaded pieces.
Explorations of volume, tailoring and superlative craftsmanship are reflected in the house’s leather goods, the supple, sensual Flamenco Purse updated with a large size and the iconic Puzzle bag invigorated with complex diamond-pattern suede or calfskin. Caviar beading appears on exceptional accessories, including the hand-embellished Squeeze bag – featuring motifs inspired by antique tapestries and porcelain
The pop-up store’s light green tiled façade is at once tactile and welcoming. Further shades of green are echoed in marble display surfaces throughout the interior, while brass accents bring warm contrast. Nodding to creative director Jonathan Anderson’s CASA LOEWE concept in which the intimacy of a gallery meets the luxury of retail, the pop-up holds several artworks including four pieces by British botanical painter Eliot Hodgkin. Underfoot, a handmade wool rug features a reproduction of British textile artist John Allen’s landscape tapestry Peveril of the Peak, while beaded vegetable props add a playful touch.
At the heart of the space sits a central, semi-enclosed column clad in darker green tiles, which offers a more intimate area for the exhibition of exotic and beaded bags. Within this column an oak-clad workshop station offers up-close insight into the label’s intricate leather and beading techniques. This station will host two craftspeople during the pop-up: an artisan showcasing LOEWE’s FW24 beading techniques from the 5 to the 10 of November, and a leatherworker from LOEWE’s Getafe atelier demonstrating the making of the Flamenco bag from the 12 to the 17 of November.
